From 1994, the total restoration of the car was Carried out over a period of nearly ten years. There is a photographic record of this restoration and that, together with relevant correspondence on file, shows that careful attention to detail that has been applied during a restoration process that can be summarised thus: Bodywork: There was corrosion on the car where steel and aluminum panels came together. All corroded aluminum panels were replaced and new insulation fitted between the panels. All paint was stripped down to bare metal. Paint and restoration to what Ace Entrusted with the car being finished in ¡§ ¡š Elusive Blue. Waxoyl application has been maintained throughout. Brightwork: Items beyond repair were replaced but most of the brightwork was right Romed by Derby Plating and the badges re-enamelled by another specialist. Engine: Rebuilt by an Aston specialist to the original specification with new pistons, piston liners, crankshaft, bearingsand timing gear. The radiator was rebuilt and recored and a new stainless steel exhaust system built and fitted. The fuel system and the fuel pump which recleaned rebuilt in 2009, together with fitment of an inline fuel filter. This was one of the last DB Mark lll cars, fitted with the DBD engine with overdrive and twin exhausts. Drivetrain: The rear axle and gearbox were found to be in good condition but the overdrive was rebuilt by specialists and a new clutch and propshaft fitted. Chassis: Found to be in sound condition it was cleaned, stripped to bare metal and repainted Suspension: The car rides on its original springs. At the rear, the suspension was rebuilt with new pins and bushes at the front and a torsion tube completely rebuilt with all new bearings / outer shafts / seals, bushes and fulcrum pins. The castor and toe angles were correctly aligned. Brakes / Wheels: Completely overhauled with new pipework, flexible hoses, seals and to overhauled hand brake system. The front callipers have been uprated to the three-pot system from a DB6. Carbotech front brake pads and rear shoes are fitted. The old 72 spoke wire wheels were replaced with a new set.
